The harbour basin is well protected from wind, weather, and the open ocean. <\/p><p>The port consists of 1.5 km of quays serving the fishing fleet, and M\u00e5l\u00f8y remains the fourth largest fishing port in Norway, receiving around 210,000 tonnes of fish annually (figures from 2016).  <\/p><p>M\u00e5l\u00f8y is built on the fishing industry, and ensuring that vessels return quickly to sea after unloading and servicing is a shared priority. Efficiency and high-quality service are therefore key focuses.
